Keystone State Wrestling Tournament Rules & Regulations

All participants must abide by PIAA modified rules, with referee decisions being final. This is a double elimination tournament with no true second. All wrestlers must make flat weight at weigh-ins and provide a valid birth certificate and/or proof of Pennsylvania residency if challenged. Qualifiers must pay a $50 fee on-site to advance. Headgear is optional, and all competitors must wear a singlet during weigh-ins. Special guidelines apply for girls’ divisions, weigh-in procedures, and match periods. Unsportsmanlike conduct will result in expulsion. No changes to weight, age, or division are allowed at the state tournament—be sure information is accurate before registration closes.

Tournament Format

Double elimination tournament with no true second place. Wrestlers must make flat weight at weigh-ins.

Documentation

Birth certificate and/or proof of PA residency must be provided if challenged. All wrestlers must weigh-in wearing a singlet.

Fees & Awards

Qualifying/advancing wrestler must pay $50 fee before leaving. You must advance to state tournament to receive qualifier gear and medal.

Girls Division

Girls must enter girls divisions and have hair secured. Headgear is optional for all wrestlers.

Match Times

Boys & Girls Youth: 2:00 – 1:00 – 1:00
Boys & Girls JR High: 1:30 – 1:30 – 1:30
Sudden death overtime applies.

Weight Allowance

14U & 16U boys & girls advancing to Day 2 (Saturday) get a 2 lb allowance. Unlimited weigh-in attempts during assigned time block.

Additional Information

Weigh-In Procedures:

Wrestlers have unlimited chances to step on the scale during their assigned weigh-in time block at states. If overweight, wrestlers have until the close of weigh-ins to make weight. Wrestlers MUST make weight at the State Tournament or they will be scratched.

Registration Changes

We can correct any age or weight mistakes or changes until the close of registration. NO WEIGHT, AGE, OR DIVISION CHANGES WILL BE ALLOWED AT THE STATE TOURNAMENT.

Consolation Matches

All 6U & 7-8 consolation matches: 1:00 – 1:00 – 1:00
All 10U, 12U, 14U, & 16U consolation matches: 1:30 – 1:00 – 1:00

Important Notes:
  • Referee’s decisions are final in all matches. Unsportsmanlike conduct will result in expulsion from the tournament.
